The World Parrot Trust is teaming with artist Chris Maynard of Featherfolio for a one-of-a-kind fundraiser -- an auction of wildlife art supporting parrot conservation. Chris combines his scientific knowledge, artistic sense, and love of feathers into a stunning art form. A portion of the proceeds from this auction will support conservation efforts currently underway in Bolivia to protect and restore populations of the Critically Endangered Blue-throated Macaw. With fewer than 150 remaining in the wild, the future remains uncertain for this beautiful bird.
The World Parrot Trust (WPT) is devoted exclusively to protecting parrots, some of the most threatened birds on earth. Utilizing the expertise of leading parrot biologists and welfare experts, the WPT employs effective strategies to help parrots survive in the wild and thrive in captivity. WPT works in partnership with local and international NGOs, scientific institutions, local communities, individuals and governments around the globe. It is the most comprehensive effort of its kind, aiding 66 species in 42 countries since 1989.
The auction runs October 11 - 18, 2014. View the auction items up for bid here.
